GENERAL

1. What sets the AAH Light apart from others?

Several qualities make the AAH Light the best choice for anyone looking for an affordable, durable, hand held, battery-operated photonic torch. Here are just a few cost savings and features:
• The AAH Light has THREE power output settings in one light – 100mw, 250mw and 500mw! This means that at the push of a button, you can change the power without reaching for a second or even third light. This allows you to have the power settings you need, when you need them, without incurring the cost and handling of extra lights and batteries. This feature alone will save you thousands of dollars.

• Next, the AAH Light was designed to remove the light head and exchange it with any other color light head. For those that do not want to carry a second light, simply remove the head and exchange it for any other color you want. Please refer to the Products page for additional information.

• Wait, there’s even more! The AAH Light was designed to use one 18650 rechargeable lithium battery. Gone is the inconvenience of carrying different types of batteries and spares. The AAH Light comes with an 18650 rechargeable battery and a charger, which will allow many hours of use per charge and numerous cycles per battery. This is just another cost savings designed into the AAH Light with the user in mind.

• The AAH Light is a high quality light made with robust, durable and water-resistant materials intended to offer the user long term use.

2. Is Red Light Therapy safe?

Yes, Red Light Therapy by use of 660 nm LED’s is extremely safe and effective. There is no “wrong” place to apply the light; therefore minimal training is required to achieve results. Stimulating an incorrect point will not cause harm, it simply registers a nil effect. You can also “put it where it hurts” and never go wrong.

As the AAH Light offers three power settings in one light, one would want to exercise care when applying the light around the eyes on the higher settings. One should never look directly into a bright light which on the AAH Light, the higher the setting, the brighter the light becomes. As with any device, be certain to read all the instructions before using the AAH Light.

3. Why is the AAH Light better and which power setting should I use?

The AAH Light was designed by an engineer and long-time red light user of several different products that are available on the market today. This prior experience assisted in the ability to incorporate all of the good qualities of other lights, while learning from and leaving out the not-so-good. Numerous details were taken into consideration while designing this light.

The AAH Light is the first of its kind to offer three power settings in one light, and to have the ability to interchange the heads for different colors. Gone is the hassle of carrying several different lights and the different batteries required. Most practitioners like to use two lights at a time, which meant needing to carry two, four or even six lights at all times. Now you can have numerous capabilities within one versatile, portable, affordable light.

The AAH Light is designed to always turn on and reset to the 100mw setting. We recommend you use this setting and observe the results. If the skin or underlying muscle isn’t responding as fast as desired, then increase the setting. The lower setting is best used for acupoint stimulation, while the higher settings are better for deeper tissue penetration. Higher settings should not be used around the eyes and should only be used in select applications. Lower settings are effective for all circumstances, but may require a little longer treatment time or repeated visits to the same area.

4. How often do I use my AAH Light?

This is determined by your own needs. There are times when longer treatments are necessary, and other times a condition will respond unbelievably fast. Use your light as often as you like, however, for optimal results here are a few suggestions:

• For an acute injury or condition, apply the AAH Light a couple of times a day for the first several days. This will jump start the healing process and may prevent cellular death. Then apply once a day for several days until healing is complete. For surgery, the AAH Light will accelerate your pre- and post-surgery recovery time by applying directly to the area of surgery.

• For a chronic injury or condition, apply the AAH Light every other day for several weeks. As the condition improves, reduce the number of times you are using the light to twice a week until you are no longer in any pain.

• For viruses, two or three times a day on your carotid artery for 10 minutes and repeat until the symptoms disappear. Be sure to reapply at the first sign of the virus returning.

• For general immune system wellness and illness prevention, stimulating the acupoints two to three times per week is sufficient.

5. What does it feel like?

The light therapy treatment is a gentle, painless, safe, non-invasive and non-abrasive treatment. Many find it relaxing, easy, and although the light itself does not create any sensation, the body responds to the accelerated cellular activity. This often results in a mild tingling, a sense of warmth, or a short period of a relaxed feeling.

6. What if I don’t locate the point?

The World Health Organization recognizes that acupuncture works. When using a needle in acupuncture, precision is important. However, the acupressure points are wide areas of skin (as wide as 10-25 mm). The AAH Light produces light that covers a wide area. Applying the light to the location of the point described in the instructions will achieve the desired benefit without the need to be “needle-point” accurate. Printed materials contained in the packages or purchased separately provide charts and information displaying the locations of these points.

7. How long do I leave the AAH Light on each point?

The AAH Light is safe to use for any period of time, however, longer is not always better or even necessary. The desired outcome will determine the setting and length of time you leave the AAH Light on one point. The lower setting (100mW) is intended to be used to stimulate the acupoints, which are right below the skin surface and require only 10-15 seconds each. The highest setting (500 mW) is intended to drive faster and a little deeper into tissue but due to the higher strength, it still only needs to be held in one spot for about 10-15 seconds. However, if wanting to use the lower setting to get into tissue, it will take a little longer- so leave it on a point for 20+ seconds if desired. Just remember, that whatever points you are stimulating, be sure to address the same point on both sides of the body.

8. Do I apply any pressure?

There is no need to add pressure. Simply apply the AAH Light directly to your skin or fur of your animal. In the case of hypersensitivity or excessive wound injuries; hold the light slightly above the area. Applying pressure will not improve the effect of the light on the acupuncture point.

9. If I use ointments or oils with my treatment, should I apply them before or after using the AAH Light?

For best results, always apply ointments or oils after your light treatment. This will allow a clean area for the lights as well as increase the circulation in that area in which the ointments and oils will be applied.

10. Does this work on everyone or every animal?

While almost everyone can benefit from the use of light therapy, there are a small set of circumstances in which the light may not be as effective and the body does not respond as well. Typically this is when anti-inflammatory or steroid/cortisone medications are being used, women who are pregnant, or those with epilepsy.

The Light Therapy will improve the health of people with pancreatitis or insulin dependent Type I diabetes by causing the pancreas to produce insulin. Therefore, if this condition applies to you, be sure to consult with your physician to monitor these levels.

These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. If any of these conditions apply to you, be sure to consult your primary medical professional before using light therapy.

11. Are there any contraindications to Red Light Therapy?

While almost everyone can benefit from the use of light therapy, there are a small set of circumstances in which the light may not be as effective and the body does not respond as well. Typically this is when anti-inflammatory or steroid/cortisone medications are being used, in females that are pregnant, or in those with epilepsy. During the pregnancy there are certain acupoints that can induce labor. We suggest consulting your medical professional for advice.

If the patient, whether human or animal, is not interested and refuses treatment, don’t force the issue. Accept refusal, and let it go. No means no or enough means enough.

Light therapy may improve the health of people with pancreatitis or insulin dependent Type I diabetes by causing the pancreas to produce insulin. Therefore, if this condition applies to you, be sure to consult with your physician to monitor these levels. Always consult your medical professional before adjusting medications.

Do not put the light directly on the site of a known malignancy. For professionals, be sure to check your state laws for specific regulations as they vary from state to state.

12. What is the difference between laser and LED?

Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are another form of light therapy that is a relatively recent development in the industry. LEDs are similar to lasers, as they can emit the same light, but they differ in the way the light is delivered.

The main difference is that a laser is a coherent light (all of the wave lengths go together) and the LED is a non-coherent light (the wave lengths are diffused and cover a wider area). With this diffusion, the cell can actually be in control of the treatment and shut off the molecules when it is done. With the laser, the cells are no longer in control. The doctor or the practitioner applying the laser is in control.

Laser light is invasive and LED light is non-invasive. This means that if a laser is applied too long or with too much strength, it can cause tissue damage. Lasers also emit radiation. Because of these considerations, you will find that most lasers are used in the medical field where practitioners not only know and understand the body but have also received extensive training.

Basically, the use of LEDs eliminates the drawback of lasers, and light can even be applied to such sensitive areas as the eyes and around the face. LEDs allowed light therapy to be used by average people in their homes with minimal training and expense.

13. Some companies state their LEDs pulse or have a frequency. What does that mean and is the AAH Light pulsed or continuous?

An LED that is pulsed or has frequency means those LEDs are powered on and off at a high frequency. The standard AAH Light is continuous and is on 100% of the time during treatment. The PBM AAH Light offers one setting with a pulsed frequency.

14. What does the Food and Drug Administration say about LED (red light) therapy?

Several devices currently on the market which use LED technology have been cleared under the infrared lamp classification (ILY). In 2017, the FDA pre-cleared this entire category for temporary relief of minor muscle and joint aches and pains, promoting relaxation of muscle tissue and temporary increase of local blood circulation.

What does this mean to you? Basically, we interpret this as the FDA has cleared this technology. It has been used by NASA, the Mayo Clinic and other major medical facilities, Universities and numerous practitioners. The results speak for themselves (refer to our Testimonials), but if you are not comfortable using this type of technology and therapy, it is our opinion that you shouldn’t and there are other options for you to pursue.

We also suggest that you find a reputable company to talk to. Read their testimonials and ask your questions. Get the facts and do not be misled by marketing splashes overstated in ads and websites.

15. How deep does the light penetrate?

Red photons all have the same characteristics, and they will all travel the same distance into the body. Usually the light will penetrate 8-10 mm. The difference in the settings determines how fast the light will go to that depth and how far the area of influence will be.

16. Do I have to stimulate acupoints in a certain order?

No specific order is required. We found, however, that it is easier to keep track of where you are if you do go in some order – like head to toe.

Regardless of the application, be sure to apply the light to corresponding points on both sides of the body.

17. Can I combine this with other modalities such as essential oils, body work, veterinary care, or standard Western medicine?

The AAH Light is complimentary to all other healing modalities. Use the light first to increase circulation and remove resistance. Combining modalities increases the effectiveness of both.

Keep in mind, when using oils or ointments, apply them after using the light.

18. What is the correct use of two lights?

Using two lights at the same time can be an effective method when done properly. There are at least three different ways to use this technique.

The first is to use your lights side-by-side over an area of discomfort. The purpose would be to cover a wider area and have a greater effect. We suggest using the highest power with this method but that is up to you.

The second two-light technique would be used when you want the maximum effect in the minimum amount of time. Using the lights at any power you choose (you can even use a different setting on each light), hold the lights over the areas that you want to treat.

The third two-light technique would be used when you want to stimulate two different acupoints at the same time. With both lights on the lowest setting (remember that higher settings will not be effective on a acupoint) place the one light over each point. This provides equal stimulation and is AAH Light’s version of a technique called ‘Bridging’.

EQUINE SPECIFIC

1. How can I be more effective when using the light on my equine?

One thing we suggest that will help you be more effective with your light is to gain a basic understanding of equine anatomy. To help you with this, we’ve included page (42) in your Equine Guide Book identifying the names and locations of parts of your horse.

2. How do I use two lights?

Please note that when you have both lights in your hand, you will not be able to keep one hand on the horse while you do the points. If you choose to use this technique, be extra aware of the movements of the horse and possibly keep the heel of one hand against the horse.

3. What are some special safety guidelines for working on equines?

No Means No

Keep one hand on the horse at all times

Stay up close so if the horse has a strong reaction, you don’t get hurt – you will only get pushed away. They can have an involuntary reaction and respond in a way they don’t expect, so be ready for that.

Use our extension tool or make one of your own so that you can stay a safe distance from the horse while still being able to work effectively.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

1. How do I clean my AAH Light?

The AAH Light was designed to be water-resistant and is intended to be lightly washed and sterilized. When cleaning under running water, direct the light downwards and rinse lightly or use a damp cloth. You may also clean your light with a very light disinfectant solution or mild chemical wipes if needed. Be sure to always follow-up with a dry soft towel to remove any residual moisture or chemical and do NOT use products that contain Ethanol, only isopropyl alcohol. Do not use anything strong or intended to be a COVID protection as those chemicals may harm the lens. Another approach to keeping the light sterile would be to place the light inside a clear baggie as opposed to placing directly on the skin.

2. How do I store my AAH Light?

The AAH Light was designed to withstand many conditions, but care should always be taken when handling it. Store your AAH Light in the canvas pouch that comes with your light. As with any device that contains a battery, store the AAH Light in a dry area. For long term storage, remove the battery from the light.

3. How long do the batteries last?

The amount of time your battery will run depends on several different factors, including the brand of battery. Therefore, to give an exact amount of time you can expect your battery to last would be extremely difficult. The run time may even vary slightly each time you use it but so far, many owners of the AAH Light have reported months of use in between charges!

The AAH Light was designed to offer you have the option of using either one (1) 18650 rechargeable battery, or two (2) CR123’s batteries (rechargeable CR123’s are not recommended). Although this light supports both of these batteries, our preference is to use the 18650 sustainable and rechargeable battery for many reasons. Not only was this a smart environmental choice, but this battery is a workhorse and will provide hours of use for your light.

The battery provided with the light ranges from 2400 to 2600 mAh and come from a reputable supplier. If you were to use the AAH Light on the highest setting, you should get up to 8 hours of continual use before needing to recharge. When used intermittently or on a lower setting, the running time will increase significantly, as in months, not hours. Other factors that affect the run time on a rechargeable battery are the age of the battery, which power settings are being used, how many times the battery has been recharged, and the capacity of the battery itself. The initial package includes one memory free battery and a charger that with proper care will offer hundreds of hours of use.

To assure the quality and warranty of the light, it is advisable to purchase replacement batteries from AAHLight.com. This particular battery tends to vary in length and width with different manufactures, and foreign battery malfunctions that damage the light will void the warranty.

4. What is the warranty on the AAH Light?
