If you’ve been following us (like we’re sure you have), one of our previous blogs talked about blue light therapy. Well, this time around, we want to talk green light therapy, what it is and how you can use its healing properties.
Let’s start off by talking about light therapy, in general.
What is light therapy?
According to Mayo Clinic, “Light therapy is a way to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and certain other conditions by exposure to artificial light. SAD is a type of depression that occurs at a certain time each year, usually in the fall or winter. Light therapy is thought to affect brain chemicals linked to mood and sleep, easing SAD symptoms. Using a light therapy box may also help with other types of depression, sleep disorders, and other conditions. Light therapy is also known as bright light therapy or phototherapy.”
How does light therapy work?
For a century, doctors have recommended patients place their beds on sunny balconies as a treatment for ailments such as rickets or psoriasis. It’s amazing to think such a simple and natural remedy has evolved over the years. According to WebMD, “In 1903, physician Niels Finsen won the Nobel Prize for inventing a giant lamp to treat skin tuberculosis (lupus). In the 1920s, Olympic athletes bathed beneath UV rays before races to boost performance.”
Now that you know the basics of light therapy, let’s discuss, specifically, green light therapy.
What is green light therapy
Light therapy is a simple process in which a specific wavelength of light is projected onto the skin. The light causes chemical reactions in the target area, which excite cells to increase cellular performance that in turn can regrow hair, eliminate acne, and rejuvenate skin. The key to green light therapy is the wavelength of light, as different colors (wavelengths) produce different chemical reactions within the cells.
How does green light therapy work?
Green light therapy promotes balance and calmness in the skin while reducing redness, as well as bringing the organs and body systems into balance. When the organs and systems of the body are attuned with the green light, the body returns to a balanced state. The body is then able to protect and heal itself when it is in a state of perfect balance.
- Green is cooling, soothing and calming both physically and mentally.
- Green has antiseptic properties and can detoxify the body and bring the negative and positive energies into balance.
- Green affects the whole system and is particularly beneficial for the sympathetic nervous system.
